5. The Spiritual-Side of Imposter Syndrome

Imposter Syndrome is a confidence issue. Can only be in certain areas of life & not overall.
Confidence= Confidence means feeling sure of yourself and your abilities — not in an arrogant way, but in a realistic, secure way. Confidence isn't about feeling superior to others. It's a quiet inner knowledge that you're capable. Confident people: ... feel ready for everyday challenges like tests, performances, and competitions (1.).
· You can be confident in certain areas and not in others
· Lack of confidence is rooted in self-doubt
· Thoughts of self-doubt comes from the enemy Why? Our security should come from God…. We are fearfully and wonderfully made (Ps 139:14)
· Practice Thought Stopping (2 Cor 10:5)
2 Cor. 10:5 AMP
5 [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
· The enemy comes to steal, kill & destroy
· Whatever it takes to steal your purpose & God’s vehicle (your business) to get you from pouring out your gift he will do
What things in your past have developed a seed of lack of confidence in your mind (soul)?
· Remember we are 3-part beings (1 Thess. 5:23)
· Past traumatic experience/event
o Relationships
o Abuse (mental/emotional or physical)
o Depression
o Unsuccessful Business
o Poverty
· Negative words spoken over you by someone you esteemed
· Comparison
· Others?
Strongholds definition= a firmly fortified set of values or beliefs that has been established in your mind and/or emotions (soul) often triggered by circumstances, experiences or events (2.).
Strongholds Connected to Imposter Syndrome (lack of confidence)
Fear
· Afraid of being successful
· Afraid of what other people might think
· Afraid of the unknown
Rejection
· They won’t like you
· They will find me out… that I don’t know everything
· They will not buy from me
Not Knowing Who You Are
· Discover who you are as a person & in Christ; fall in love with you just the way you are
Overwhelm
· Must settle in your heart that you are graced for this
· God will give you the strategy & plan; must seek & listen to Him
Insecurity
· You are secure in God
· Focus on His love for you
· He is your protector & has your back
· He loves you
Why Not You? (Frame of mind)
· You do not think you deserve it
· Others around you haven’t achieved
· Cure: Change your expectation
· Be careful of pride & false humility… the other extremes
How to Combat
· Word of God
· Presence of God
· Prayer (release of stronghold &/or deliverance)- reject & renounce; cast down thoughts and replace with Word of God
· Therapy to deal with deep wounds
· Continual growth & development in God and your area of expertise
In May, will have a spiritual development training on healing your wounds & next Wednesday a Prophetic Prayer session in the Mastery Group where we will pray about this also.
